What Are the Most Recent Guidelines for Working Multiple Jobs on STEM OPT
As of 2026 USCIS requires that for each employer you work with on STEM OPT, that employer must be independently enrolled in standard E-Verify — not the federal contractor version — and you must have a fully completed I-983 training plan on file with each one before you start. Your job duties at every position must have a clear and documentable connection to your STEM degree, and you must be working a minimum of 20 hours per week per employer. There has also been increased scrutiny on remote work arrangements this year, meaning each employer needs to clearly document who is supervising you, how often, and how your progress is being measured. If you are working through a staffing agency that places you at a client site, the guidelines get even more complicated and that is a situation where you really do need an attorney before you sign anything.
